現代人身邊圍繞著各式各樣的媒體，而且已逐漸習慣同時運用多種媒體工具來工作：一邊聽著iPod、一邊上網瀏覽、同時用MSN和同事討論工作內容。因此，美國《商業週刊》（BussinessWeek）將這群人稱為「媒體多工族」。

這是美國《連線》（Wired）雜誌總編輯克里斯‧安德森（Chris Anderson）所提出。「長尾」指的是愈接近尾端、愈被忽視的非主流產品。安德森表示，隨著網際網路的發達，再小眾的商品也可以透過網路的傳播創造高額的銷售。Say It in Style

1.如何表達你對新工作的期望？

與老闆溝通你對新工作的期望時，可以有幾種不同的說法：

(1) I’m really hoping to spend a lot of time working with customers; I love working with people.（我希望花時間拜訪客戶，我喜歡和人接觸。）

(2) If possible, in this job I’d like to learn as much as possible about international law, as that is my interest.（我希望盡可能從工作中學習國際法的相關知識，因為這是我的興趣。）

(3) I’m willing to do anything you need me to, but given a choice, I’d like to spend time supporting the researchers.（我願意做你需要我去做的工作，但如果可以選擇的話，我希望可以花時間去支援研究人員。）

(4) That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited about this position-- I’m hoping to learn more about computer graphic applications.（這是我為什麼對這份工作感到很興奮的原因之一，我希望可以多學習關於電腦繪圖的應用技術。）2. to walk someone through 帶著（某個人）做……

“to walk through原本的意思是「走過去」，“to walk someone through表示帶著某個人做過一遍，讓對方了解。例如：“The application of this system is easy. I’ll walk you through it.（這套系統的應用非常簡單，我操作一次給你看。）3. to be psyched about something 對某件事感到興奮

這是口語中常見的用法，意思等同於“ to be excited about something。例如：“I really love my gym. Every time I go in to work out, I’m really psyched.（我真的很喜歡這家健身中心，每次去運動，都覺得很興奮。）4. to fly solo 獨立完成工作

在這裡“solo的意思是「單獨地」，當副詞用。“fly solo原本代表「單獨飛行」的意思，後來延伸為「單獨完成工作」。例如：

“Ed, how come your business partner didn’t come with you?（艾德，你的工作夥伴怎麼沒有跟你一起來？）

“He’s tied up with another project, so today I’m flying solo.（他正忙著另一個專案，所以我就自己過來了。）
