[After months of planning and hard work, the launch of the Diamondback Grille - Taipei is finally a reality. The kick-off event is being held in the restaurant itself, and hundreds of people are in attendance, with many VIP guests from Taiwan and abroad.]
T.J.Liu:I need you two to help me circulate tonight-----it’s important we make everyone feel welcome.
Bob Randall:No problem, T.J. I can remember the names of the foreigners... we’ve got the director of A.I.T. and of course, the big draw, Brad Peterson.
Cindy Lee:Right. Do you want me to remind you who the other VIPs are?
Bob:If you would. These Chinese names... I make a mess of them.
T.J.:We’ve got several big names from the Taiwan sports scene: A gold medalist in Taekwondo and a MVP baseball player for the Sinon Bulls.
Cindy:And T.J., don’t forget the big boss, Jack Gonzales.
[Jack Gonzales, CEO of the Diamondback Grille, walks up to them at that moment.] Bob:Jack, you’re looking very elegant this evening.
Jack:Hello, Bob. I see you have your snake tie on.
T.J.:Jack, I’d like to introduce you to one of Taiwan’s gold medalists. Oh, if you’ll forgive me, there appears to be a minor situation requiring me in the kitchen...
Jack:I’ve been wanting to meet you, Ms. Chen.
Bob: [joining them] This is Jack Gonzales, Ms. Chen. He’s the founder of the Diamondback Grille steakhouse and sports bar chain in the United States.
Ms. Chen:It’s a pleasure. We’ve been hearing about your steaks for several months... [conversation continues]
[Meanwhile, Cindy is building up the courage to talk with Brad Peterson.]Cindy:Um, excuse me, Brad? I’m Cindy Lee, of the Taipei Diamondback Grille. Thanks so much for joining us at our launch tonight. How do you like Taipei so far?
Brad:It’s awesome. This party really rocks. I’m glad I had a few days to take off from the filming. Cindy, maybe we can talk another time.
[T.J. and Bob walk up to Cindy.] T.J.:OK, Cindy, how was your conversation with the hot new American star?
Cindy:He’s tall, but the conversation was short. I think he wanted to go talk with Ms. Chen instead of me.
T.J.:Bob, have you been working the crowd?
Bob:Yes, and eating my share of your Taiwanese-flavored shrimp at the same time. We’ve got to get these onto the regular menus. You may not be a gold medalist, Cindy, but you throw a great party.
