另外，可以把 something exceeds our expectations 「某事超越我們的期待」這個用法學起來。舉個例子：

這句話的意思是「她對這份工作有很高的期待」。John 是男生，所以主詞不可能是 she（她）。
也可以把 have/has high expectations for「對....有很高的期待」這個用法學起來。舉個例子：

那 expect 在這裡比較沒有「期待、期望」的感覺，而只有「預料、預計」某事會發生的意思。再舉個例子：
We expect to arrive in London at 8:00 in the morning.

I didn't expect you to show up this early today.

最後要注意，如果要說 「期待某件好事發生」、 「期待做某件好事」，會用 look forward to 這個片語，不會用 expect 喔！例如：
