debate 的意思和用法

Debate 指的是電視上那種「正式的辯論會」或「辯論比賽」，有時候也可以用來表示「雙方準備很多資料來正式討論」。例如：

The presidential debate tomorrow is the last one before the election.
明天的總統辯論是選舉前的最後一場。

We have had several debates about this policy over the past year, but we haven’t worked anything out yet.
我們過去這一年就這個政策進行了多次討論，但我們還沒有討論出任何結果。

Debate 本身也可以當動詞，表示「辯論、討論」。例如：

The subject of same-sex marriage was hotly debated last night.
同性婚姻這個主題昨晚被熱烈討論。
