化解誤會

以對話中的情況為例,T. J.要如何向鮑伯解釋事情發生的經過,化解彼此之間的誤會?

(1) Bob, I’m a little puzzled by the fax your legal office sent to me. My understanding was that New York had given me the green light on the email campaign.(鮑伯,收到你們法務部傳真給我的信件,我有一點疑惑。根據我的理解,紐約總公司已經准許電子郵件的促銷活動。) to give the green light on sth. 表示「准許做某件事」的意思。

(2) Bob, something seems off here. I went forward with the email campaign because you sent me an email agreeing to the proposal. And now I have a letter from your legal counsel. Can you help me understand the situation?(我覺得事情有點不對勁。因為你在信中已經同意了,所以我才繼續電子郵件的促銷活動。但是又接到法律顧問的信函。能否麻煩你說明一下?)

(3) Bob, it would appear that I may have misread the English in the email you sent. I had thought that communication was telling me to go ahead with the promotion. (鮑伯,我似乎誤解了你信件內容的意思。我以為你准許我們這次的電子郵件促銷活動。)

Unfortunately we can’t do anything about this promotion now, since the emails have already been sent out. But it would be helpful if, moving forward, we could keep the English in future emails fairly direct, so we could avoid similar misunderstandings. (但是很抱歉,信件都已經發出去了,所以無法改變。不過,如果以後信件內容的用語可以更直接,就可以避免發生類似的誤解。)
